What does a Sous Chef do at Roc’s Social?
The Sous Chef assists the general Manager in providing our guests with best-in-class, off-the-chart, meals by leading the Kitchen Team and supervising all venue culinary activities. It requires two important skill sets - culinary management and great leadership.
The Sous Chef, under the direction of the Executive Chef, supervises, trains, coaches, and drives engagement with their team to ensure the highest-quality culinary experience for our guests. They also manage the culinary operations - scheduling labour, managing inventory, ordering product, ensuring safety and sanitation, maintaining kitchen areas and maintaining vendor relationships.
The Sous Chef may be responsible for either day-to-day operations on the line or events execution.
Key Accountabilities of the Position include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure the consistent, high quality preparation & execution of all menu items in Roc’s Bar
- Assist in maintain the highest level of food safety standards and kitchen best practices in Roc’s Bar
- Assist in the development, presentation & succession planning of Kitchen team members
- Assist the Executive Chef in ongoing menu development & performance improvement.
- Maintain highest standard of kitchen presentation and equipment cleanliness
- Assist in Food Production for the greater VCA business
What are we looking for?
This role is perfect for someone who has experience leading as a Chef and who has the below qualities:
- Hands on approach and lead by example
- Strong knowledge of current cooking trends and techniques
- Able to follow direction and execute with precision as directed by the Chef de Cuisine
- Work well under pressure
- Able to work weekends and nights
- Strong organizational skills
- Great communication & leadership skills
