Marine Animal Specialist
$27.19 per hour Part-Time
Sea World, Main Beach, Gold Coast
The opportunity:
You will provide a level of care, enrichment and husbandry to ensure appropriate welfare and standards are maintained for the relevant animal collection. You will train and share responsibility for presenting our mammals in our live presentations, keeper talks and interactive programs. You will be required to pass relevant audition criteria including swimming, training knowledge test and speaking on a microphone. Some weekend work will
be required.
Your day to day:
• Undertake animal husbandry and exhibit maintenance tasks for animals and exhibits in assigned area
• Develop an understanding of animal welfare, including animal training and enrichment techniques
• Assist with organisation and planning of feeding schedules, training of animal behaviors and implementation of enrichment
• Provide the general public with correct information about our animals
What you’ll bring:
• Knowledge of animal welfare and operant conditioning
• Bachelor of Science degree or Certificate III in Captive Animal Management is essential
• Experience in public speaking
• Manual car drivers license
• Available to work on any day including weekends
