The Opportunity
If you've ever dreamed of calling Shark Bay your office, this is your chance to make a splash!
As a Diver, you'll work alongside our Aquarium and Dive Maintenance teams, helping to maintain and present Shark Bay and other aquatic habitats to the highest standard. Through daily diving activities, you'll play an important role in the care, cleanliness and presentation of our marine environments.
This is a unique opportunity to work in and around some of Australia's most iconic marine exhibits, while supporting animal welfare outcomes and creating memorable experiences for our guests through world-class habitat presentation and occasional guest interactions.
Key Responsibilities
From scrubbing tanks to swimming with sharks, no two dives are ever the same. Here’s what you’ll be getting up to:
• Your primary area of responsibility will be working with the Dive team, including the Dive Maintenance Team throughout VRTP properties.
• Participating in all dive areas while working in accordance with ADAS and government legislation (AS2299) related to commercial diving
• Maintenance and cleaning in animal pools and exhibits
• Support aquarist team with husbandry tasks as required
• Underwater inspection, dredging, maintenance
• Maintaining commercial diving equipment
• Participate in external dive environments for research rescue and conservation
What We’re Looking For
Got gills for days and a love of the deep? You’ll bring:
• Current ADAS Part 2 qualification
• Commercial diving medical certification (AS2299)
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate
• Drivers License
• Blue Card is essential* (Please be advised that the cost of a Blue Card is currently $108.30)
• Must have or be willing to get a recreational boat license
• Experience in dry suit diving and cold water environments
• Knowledge of marine animals and their environment beneficial
• Must be physically fit with a high level of motivation and commitment
• Worksite safety and adhering strictly to risk assessment and workplace health and safety guidelines
• Good written skills, record keeping and the ability to use online forms and tools
• Must be available to work on any day, including weekends
