The Opportunity
Step into a role where you get up close with some of the ocean’s most mesmerizing marine life.

As a Sea Jellies Aquarist, you’ll care for sea jellies, fish, and corals while keeping their exhibits healthy, vibrant, and ready to impress. From daily husbandry to mastering water quality checks, you’ll help create stunning displays that spark curiosity and delight every guest who passes by.

Key Responsibilities
Bring your passion for the ocean to life every day! You’ll be:
• Carrying out daily husbandry and maintenance tasks for the Sea Jellies Illuminated facility to maintain the animals in the best health possible.
• Daily care of teleosts and invertebrates.
• Water quality testing.
• Participating in collections, transports and rescues for all fish and invertebrates.
• Completing daily records for all exhibits under your care to ensure that accurate and complete histories are maintained for all animals.

Candidates who progress through the first and second round interviews will be required to complete both (a) a Fitness for Work Assessment and (b) a Psychometric Assessment (DISC). These assessments are conducted at VRTP’s expense and form part of the overall recruitment process. What We’re Looking For
Ready to join a team where jellies rule and curiosity is key? You’ll bring:
• Bachelor of Sciences in a relevant field (e.g. Marine Biology) required.
• Provide First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation is essential.
• Knowledge of aquarium systems, filtration and water testing.
• Knowledge and ability to care for live food hatcheries, including harvesting, cleaning and nutritional enrichment of microalgae, rotifers and artemia.
• Knowledge of marine species including sharks, rays, fish, turtles, jellyfish and corals.
• Ability to work unsupervised and on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays
• Previous experience working in a public aquarium would be valuable.
