In this high-impact leadership role, you’ll spearhead the strategic direction, sales growth, and seamless delivery of our conferences and events business across multiple award-winning venues. You’ll play a pivotal role in positioning Village Roadshow Theme Parks as the premier destination for unique, world-class events in Australia.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead strategic planning, team management, sales growth, and pre-event planning/management for conferences and events at Sea World Resort, Sea World, Movie World, Paradise Country, Wet’n’Wild, and Australian Outback Spectacular.
  • Achieve revenue targets, enhance guest experiences, and position Village Roadshow Theme Parks as a premier destination for unique and memorable events.
  • Represent the Hospitality division and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including tourism bodies.
  • Support sales strategies and proactive sales activities to achieve budgeted revenues for the Accommodation Division (Sea World Resort and Paradise Country Nature Stay).
  • Collaborate with the Revenue leader on rate strategies and mix management to optimize RevPAR yield and year-over-year growth.

Key Accountabilities

Departmental Management

  • Develop and implement strategy for ~$15M annual conferences/events business.
  • Build strong client, partner, and vendor relationships.
  • Create and execute sales plans to meet/exceed revenue targets.

Manage sales activity calendar and deployment for sales teams.

  • Oversee event planning and coordinate with internal departments for seamless delivery.
  • Identify and implement innovative event solutions.
  • Manage high-profile and signature events for brand awareness.
  • Represent company at industry events to foster partnerships.
  • Support budget development and tactical sales strategies for ~$65M annual accommodation revenue.

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring cost control and alignment with financial goals.
  • Support sales budget process and revenue achievement.

People Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop event sales/planning teams for high performance.
  • Set KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and ensure exceptional client service.
  • Foster communication between sales and event operations teams.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with VRTP OHS policies and procedures.
  • Review health and safety reports; manage contractor compliance.
  • Provide OHS training and evaluate direct reports’ safety performance.
  • Report hazards/incidents and use safety equipment correctly.
  • Cooperate to maintain a safe workplace.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Hospitality, Sales, Event Management, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Experience in high-volume, multi-venue, high-turnover businesses.
  • Proven leadership in sales, planning, and coordination within hospitality.
  • Ability to work proactively and autonomously; track record in achieving budgets and growth.
  • Established relationships in MICE and tourism markets.
  • Strategic and tactical sales skills; analytical and planning abilities.
  • Persuasion, negotiation, and communication at all levels.
  • Knowledge of industry-leading hospitality computing platforms.
